What to expect from a hypnotherapy session

The first thing to understand about hypnotherapy is that at no point do you lose control; you will be fully aware throughout the whole experience and the process is designed to put you at ease and make you comfortable. Hypnotherapy is actually quite a relaxing and pleasant experience.
It starts with a preliminary chat to identify and clarify the problem and then you will be made comfortable in a reclining chair at which point the treatment begins. It usually follows one of two approaches depending on the nature of the problem:
Suggestion therapy– which involves introducing and implanting positively phrased ideas/suggestions to bring about the desired behaviour.
Analytical therapy– identifying the underlying cause and resolving it by releasing the negative beliefs/emotions, that in itself then resolves the symptoms.
You will be asked to close your eyes and allow your mind to focus on some ideas that will help you relax. At that point, through hypnotic suggestion, we will talk to you specifically about the issues. You will barely notice the transition to hypnosis and most people find it a liberating, enlightening and reassuring experience. A brief chat afterwards to sum up and that’s all there is to it.
Sometimes just 1 or 2 sessions is all you will need, sometimes a short course of treatment is required, varying from person to person and the reason for attending.
